QorTek Presents to NASA and Industry
QorTek, Inc., one of the QorTek Group of companies in the Williamsport area was invited by NASA to provide an overview its advanced research on space power electronics. QorTek provided two separate back-to-back presentations that took place at the new NASA Glenn Mission Integration Center in Cleveland, Ohio on March 17. Speaking to a large audience filling the auditorium that consisted of scientists, managers, and engineers from several NASA Centers and NASA HQ along with representatives from selected companies representing the Aerospace Industry, QorTek discussed its advanced electronics. Thistechnolgy designed and fabricated in Williamsport PA, specifically developed to support NASA missions to Mars, Deep Space and Solar Flares observation where they must withstand very high temperatures and very high radiation levels without failure. The new power electronic system products are also directly applicable to a number of Department of Defense space mission needs, and the development of this advanced technology is being in large part funded by The United States Air Force and the Missile Defense Agency. QorTek has recently applied for several International patents covering dc/dc converters, voltage sensors, current sensors, voltage isolators, and point-of–load converters that all share a radical new advance in electronics of no longer requiring magnetic transformers or digital processors, making them ideal for operating in very harsh conditions.

QorTek Receives Tibbetts Award From Congressman Marino
On Wednesday, September 24th, Congressman Tom Marino presented Dr. Gareth Knowles, CEO of local power products manufacturer QorTek, Inc., with the annual Tibbetts Award, which recognizes small businesses for their achievements in research and development for the government and as successful drivers of innovation and job creation. Presentation of the Tibbetts Award was held at QorTek’s facility on Lycoming Creek Road, Williamsport, PA.
QorTek traveled to Patuxent River to participate in a flight test with KEYW Corporation’s Multiband SAR (MBSAR). The joint test was for verification of the MBSAR along with QorTek’s real time SAR diagnostic hardware. The pre-deployment flight allows KEYW to monitor the MBSAR in real-time by observing a health metrics that is created by the QorTek diagnostic hardware as the SAR pass is completed. After the pass was completed, the KEYW team processed the SAR data and into images and compared the results to the previously generated radar health status. The testing is all part of an Air Force funded development as QorTek works to transition its state of the art health monitoring software.
Picatinny Arsenal has signed off on a comprehensive 3 year CRADA with QorTek to co-develop its technologies for advanced Army applications. NASA Tech Briefs includes an article describing QorTek innovative Quasi-linear Circuit Topology specifically developed for rad hard power supply applications.
